Crescent Concerts are held in the neo-gothic sanctuary of Crescent Avenue Presbyterian Church, which is located at the corner of Watchung Avenue and East Seventh Street in Plainfield, NJ. The sanctuary was constructed in the early 1930s to replace a previous structure that was nearly completely destroyed by a tragic and spectacular fire. When inside the building, you are struck by the awe-inspiring architecture: beautiful stained glass windows, superb wood carvings, and a ceiling which literally soars above you. The peace, warmth, and inspiration that one feels in this special place delightfully enhance the wide variety of musical performances that are held there.

The sanctuary also houses a magnificent pipe organ comprised of 5,124 pipes and a 4-manual console. This great instrument was designed and built by the master organ builder, Gilbert Adams. French in conception, it is, first and foremost, an ensemble instrument blending the tonal concepts of Aristide Cavaille-Coll's romantic organ with the French classic tradition of Françios-Henri Cliquot. The organ's tonal resources are often used as part of the Crescent Concerts program, both as a solo instrument and as an accompaniment to majestic choral performances.

Crescent Avenue's commitment to music began before there were sidewalks or paved streets in Plainfield. That tradition continues today, not only with the Crescent Concerts program, but also with many concerts offered by other area musical groups as well as professional musicians and groups of international stature.
