Dear Fellow Singers:
Yes, it is still summer for us all; however, before we know it, September and the change of seasons will be upon us. And for all of us in the Choral Society, it means a return to singing some of the most treasured compositions ever written. Dr. Deborah Simpkin King begins the new season with rehearsing and conducting us in Haydn’s Mass in Time of War, also known as Paukenmesse, for its use of timpani.
We hope you are ready to undertake this wonderful piece under her leadership. With the New Jersey Intergenerational Orchestra and soloists and a few surprises along the way (including a collaboration with the Westfield High School Chorale), this should prove to be one of our most popular and beloved concert offerings . If you have friends or acquaintances who enjoy singing and can commit to our rehearsal schedule, please urge them to join us for this November 3 concert.
Rehearsal dates: Eight Monday evenings: Sept. 10, 17, 24; Oct. 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, all at 7:30pm. Friday, November 2 is dress rehearsal. Time TBA by Dr. King. Performance is Saturday, November 3 at 5:00pm.
It is very important to the success of this project knowing ahead of time the singers committed to performing the Haydn. This is your Choral Society and we hope you will join your fellow colleagues for this concert. At your earliest convenience, please do respond by either affirming your participation or letting us know you are not singing. We ask that you respond one way or the other by September 1. Please send your response to Bing D. Bills, email@example.com or Michael Tackvic, firstname.lastname@example.org
In the meantime, until September, we wish you a pleasant summer.
Bing D. Bills and
Michael Tackvic, Co-Concert Managers
